Easy Halloween Treats and Decor
Halloween is just around the corner and if you haven’t had time to get your home decorated for this holiday, these easy Halloween Treats and Decor are perfect for last minute plans. Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year which is never fun for the kids, but making these easy Halloween Treats and Decor can be a fun way to celebrate the holiday without making too much of a mess on a school night. Save the pumpkin for pie and make these super easy Halloween candles, Pumpkin Shaped Rice Krispie treat cake and even some spooky witches’ brooms. Super easy and super fun!
Easy Halloween Treats and Decor
Halloween Candles
Nothing could be better than these super cute Halloween candles. No fire or wax is used so they are safe around pets and children. All you need for these cute candles is some Halloween ribbon, Mason Jar, and a small LED candle. All of these items can be purchased at any craft store or party store. Choose your ribbing and cut a piece long enough to go all the way around the jar. Mod Podge or Elmer’s glue it on so it stays in place. I used a paint brush to apply the glue and did a couple of coats allowing it to dry between applications. Put the LED candle inside and you have adorable candles that can be placed on the porch, in windows or wherever you need some spooky light.
Witches Brooms
Super simple treat that anyone can make. You’ll need a back of the Reese’s miniatures and some pretzel sticks. That’s it! Unwrap the mini peanut butter cups and turn upside down on a plate or serving plate. Poke pretzel sticks in the middle of each peanut butter cup and you have adorable witches’ brooms that are tasty too!
Rice Krispie Pumpkin
This is a super easy treat to make and something the kids will enjoy making as much as they will eating. If you can make Rice Krispie Treats, you can make this adorable pumpkin treat. Use the recipe on the box of Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal.
Melt butter on medium heat in a pan and add marshmallows and stir until melted.
Add food coloring (ratio of one drop of yellow to two drops of red to make a Halloween orange).
Stir until the color is evenly distributed.
Fold in rice cereal until evenly incorporated.
Press cereal mixture into pumpkin shaped pan (you can find these adorable pans at any Michael’s, Joann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby or most other craft stores), let cool.
When the marshmallow treat pumpkin has cooled you can remove it from the pan and decorate with your favorite treats. Give the kids a variety of sprinkles, M&Ms, licorice etc and let them use their imagination. Store in an airtight container.
Teal Pumpkin
Don’t forget about the Teal Pumpkin. There are nearly 6 million kids in the US with nut allergies. That’s a lot of kids who can’t trick or treat without being vigilant about what goes into their bag and into their mouths. Consider giving out only candy that is nut free and then placing a teal pumpkin on your porch or at your door to let kids (and their parents) know that your treats are completely nut free.
